There are many places to look for statistics and other data pertainaing to education, and often the most current information is found online.  Here are a few resources that contain up-to-date information you might want to consider in your research.

 

Online Statistics and Data

DIGEST OF EDUCATION STATISTICS
Published annually, this resource contains statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school.  It draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

  • locate the most current edition of the Digest on the left-hand side of the screen or select a different year from the drop-down menu.

NATIONAL CENTER FOR EDUCATION STATISTICS (NCES)
Located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences, NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education.

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Great location to find education statistics and standards information for the state of Michigan

CONDITION OF EDUCATION
Summarizes important developments and trends in education using the latest available data.

U.S. CENSUS
The U.S. Census Bureau collects and publishes data on education in the United States.  Here are some links of interest:

KIDS COUNT DATA CENTER
Contains state- and city-level data for over 100 measures of child well-being, including all the measures regularly used in the popular KIDS COUNT Data Book.
