.Art and Art History (General): Finding BOOKS

This is the main portal to databases and other library sources for art and art history research at Van Wylen Library, Hope College.

Searching for Books in Primo

The search box above will search our print and digital collections for books and media.

Limit results to just books under Resource type

  • When researching a specific work of art in books, think broad!  Don't search on the specific name of your art piece, but instead by artist, school, or location. You may find your work mentioned within a broader work, or at least gain some broader context or background information.
  • Notice where your “keywords” appear in the record. They are often underlined in yellow.
  • Experiment with the words you search with! Use your initial results to brainstorm different ways of describing your topic.
