New York Times @ Hope College: Academic Pass Renewal

Renew Your Academic Pass

Our license with The New York Times (NYT) requires faculty and staff to renew their academic passes periodically so that the NYT can verify that they still have a valid 1Hope email account. Students set their proposed graduation date when they register initially and should NOT need to renew their academic pass.

As of April 2021, the NYT has announced an improvement to the re-authentication process for faculty and staff. The NYT is extending their academic passes for faculty from the current 1-year passes to 4-year passes.  This update will go into effect immediately for new subscribers and subscribers that have joined since November 2020. If you have questions or lose access to your account, please contact Jen Holman in electronic resources.

If you already have an account, please use those credentials to log in (https://myaccount.nytimes.com/verification/edupass):

You may then need to verify your email address before proceeding - (n.b. you must be logged in your 1Hope email before trying to claim your academic pass) NYT will send the verification email to your 1Hope account..

Once you complete the verification and login with your New York Times credentials, you will see a message similar to this below:

If you still have time before your pass expires, you can set a calendar reminder and then renew your pass when the time comes. If that date has already passed, proceed to: https://myaccount.nytimes.com/verification/edupass to renew your account.

Forgot your renewal date? Just follow the prompts at the URL above at any time to view your renewal date.
