Research Desk Manual: Van Wylen Mission Statement

Van Wylen Philosophy and Goals

The Mission of the library is to serve as a vibrant center of intellectual and cultural life at Hope College by assuming a significant educational role in a college community committed to excellence in learning and teaching.

The goals of the library are:

The library will facilitate individual and collaborative learning and exploration by providing physical and virtual environments, and the technology and staff to support them.

The library will foster a community of information-literate, life-long learners by coordinating and implementing a comprehensive instruction program designed to reach a variety of information needs and learning styles.

The library will collect, organize, and provide access to information sources that support the college's undergraduate liberal arts curriculum, and the intellectual, cultural, and spiritual growth of the Hope community.
