REL 328 - Johannine Literature: Books

A guide for Professor Janet Everts's Johannine Literature course.

MeLCat

MeLCat is the unified catalog of the Michigan Library Consortium.  This allows Hope students order materials in libraries throughout the state, which significantly increased your access to research sources.  You can search directly in the MeLCat catalog, or you can jump from a search in HopeCat to an identical one in MelCat, by using the "Search MeLCat" button.

Once you have found what you are looking for just:

  1. Click "Get this for me"
  2. Select Hope College from the list
  3. Enter your 1Hope ID and password
  4. You will receive an email when the book arrives at Van Wylen (usually about a week)

HopeCAT

You can use either the default "basic" search or choose to do an "advanced" search by clicking on the link below the search bar:

Advanced searching allows you to look in multiple fields at once:

Western Theological Seminary

Hope shares its library catalog with Western Theological Seminary's Beardslee Library, making it easy for you to search for materials at both libraries.  As a student of religious studies, you will likely use their collection at some point.  You can check out materials there using your Hope ID. To recognize their materials in HopeCat, look under the location field:

Western's books are always listed with a "WTS" at the beginning of their location.  Note that they also use a different call number system.

Note: printing and photocopying at Western costs money, so bring along cash.
