JournalTOCs: Home

a tables of contents alerting service

We license JournalTOCs Premium, an easy-to-use tables of contents alerting service from The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. This current awareness service allows you to create a personalized list of journals to view the latest tables of contents. By signing up for a free account with your 1Hope email address, you’ll be able to build a personal list of journals for which you’d like to see the latest tables of contents. If you’d like a librarian to setup your account for you, please ask us! You can view the tables of contents within your JournalTOCs account, receive alerts in your email, or read them in an RSS reader as soon as they’re published electronically. In addition to Van Wylen Library’s full-text journals, you can also view titles and tables of contents for the over 32,000 journals in the JournalTOCs system.

JournalTOCs in Action..What to Expect

A typical email from JournalTOCs will not show a full traditional journal table of contents. Here's an example of an email:

Notice that there are only 2 articles. Here's the full table of contents from the publisher site:

An added benefit of JournalTOCs is that you see each article as soon as it is available online; you no longer have to wait until the publisher receives enough articles to complete a traditional issue.
