Worldcat Requests: Home

Requesting Items while MeLCat is Down

In July 2018, the library will be launching a new library discovery system. This system (replacing both The MightyFind and HopeCat) will provide a user-centered, single-search system with greatly enhanced functionality. This project requires a new library backend system and the migration to that system will, unfortunately, require some service interruptions during the spring semester.

MeLCat users will be the most affected by this, as we need to clear out all MeLCat checkouts from our system before the transition. Requesting items via MelCat will be suspended as of Wednesday, February 28During this suspension, we will still offer traditional Interlibrary Loan services, and we can still get most items just as quickly through ILL.  Here's how:

When searching in HopeCat, look for the "Find in WorldCat" buttons where you would usually see MelCat icons:

Worldcat button when no entries found

WorldCat button when no title found

Worldcat button above HopeCat search box

This button will take you to the WorldCat catalog. Click on the title that interests you, and then select the "Request Item through InterLibrary Loan" button.  Enter your name and email address, and voila!  Your request is submitted.  You will receive an email when the item arrives at the library (the email will come from "sierra@hope.edu, instead of hopecirc@hope.edu, which was the address for MeLCat requests).
