Google Hangout Meets is Google's replacement for Google hangouts. Check out the below video for a quick tutorial on what's new and how you might use Google Meet as a student.

White Board Apps

Ipevo
Ipevo is a free to download whiteboard app for your computer, tablet, or phone. This could be great for taking notes in class, group work, or other uses.
Microsoft Whiteboard
A free Microsoft office whiteboard application available as an app download for tablets and phones. This app could be beneficial for class notes, group work, or other uses.

Scanning

Adobe Scan
The Adobe Scan app is free for all devices and will create a scan using your phone or tablet. Converting your scan to a nice clean .PDF format. This could be helpful to turn in assignments needed to be done by hand, show drawings, sketches, or diagrams, or other uses.

Internet

Charter/Spectrum
Charter will be offering Free wifi to affected students of COVID-19 that do not have internet access for 60 days. Furthermore, Charter/Spectrum hotspots around the country have been opened for public use.

Presentations

Present in Google Hangout Meets
You can present using Google Hangout Meets in your synchronized course or record ahead of time in an empty meet "room" to send to your professor later.
Record Powerpoint Slides
This video will show you how to record audio per slide in powerpoint. This could be a way to present to your class asynchronously.
Closed Caption with Google Slides
Google slides will real-time closed captions your presentation. Try screen recording your presentation using google slides with close caption turned on for instant close captioned videos.

Screen Recording

Mac Screen Recording
Record your screen on a Mac using command + shift + 5. This video tutorial quickly shows you how to make a quick screen recording.
Windows Screen Recording
Record your screen on a Windows 10 device using the built in xbox app, then click windows + G. This tutorial will show you how to record using this built in feature.
iPhone/iPad Screen Recording
Record directly on your ipad or iphone using the built in feature. You could use this in collaboration with a whiteboard app to create quick videos.

Communicate Clearly

Choose 1 platform to communicate for the duration of your project
- Slack, Email, Text, Chat, Shared documents, or even Zotero for research papers

Make a Plan

Divide Tasks evenly among the group members (be gracious towards members that may have certain technology or access available to them)
What tools are you going to use? How are you going to collaborate?
How, What platform, and when are you going to communicate?

Use Collaboration Friendly Tools

Google Docs
Google Docs is google's web based version of word. This is a great tool to collaborate on a group project or simply share with your professor for your grade or the writing center for feedback.
Google Sheets
Google sheets is google's alternative to excel. Sheets will help you collaboratively create spreadsheets, tables, graphs, and other visuals.
Google Slides
Google Slides is a great tool to collaborate on slides for a presentation. It's similar to powerpoint in functionality and gives you the option to turn on closed captions for a presentation if using google chrome.
Google Hangouts Meet

Video Chat Tools
Other tools like Facetime, Skype, Zoom, or even Facebook could be used to video chat a group. Be sure that every member knows how to use the tool and has access.
Zotero
Zotero Group libraries are a great way of collaborating on research papers remotely. Zotero will even able you to share notes for each resource within the Zotero platform.
