CAN I ACCESS THE NEW YORK TIMES FROM MY MOBILE DEVICE?

Visit nytimes.com/mobile on your tablet or mobile device to download free NY Times apps. Full access to the tablet news app has more than 25 sections of content including blogs, video and slide shows. Use your Academic Pass login credentials for access.

I ALREADY HAVE AN ACADEMIC PASS ACCOUNT, BUT WOULD LIKE TO ACCESS THE TIMES ON A TABLET. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Some NYT tablet apps are now available to all who claim a new pass or renew a pass to the nytimes.com Academic Site License affiliated with Hope College.

I ALREADY HAVE A NYTIMES.COM DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION. CAN I GET AN ACADEMIC PASS?

nytimes.com does not permit a double entitlement. If you have an existing paid subscription, you are not eligible for an Academic Pass unless you cancel your paid subscription first. You can get help by calling 1-800-591-9233.

CAN I ACCESS THE NEW YORK TIMES OFF-CAMPUS?

Yes, as long as you have registered using your hope.edu e-mail address and obtained your Academic Pass.

I'M HAVING PROBLEMS USING MY ACADEMIC PASS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The New York Times offers a troubleshooting guide for the problems some users encounter.

I NEVER RECEIVED A VERIFICATION EMAIL

Check your spam folder. If it is not there, it may have gotten caught in Hope's spam filter. Please send an email from your 1Hope email address to edu@nytimes.com with subject line: Academic Pass - no verification email

HOW CAN I UTILIZE THE NEW YORK TIMES IN THE COURSES I TEACH?

New York Times in Education provides curated content for a range of disciplines, allowing you to incorporate news content into your curricula. Register using your Hope email address.

Breaking News: Starting on July 1, 2024, you will have access to everything The New York Times offers:

● News: Understand the world with original reporting from 1,700 journalists
Games: Spelling Bee, Wordle, The Crossword and more.
● Cooking: Recipes, advice and inspiration for any occasion.
● Wirecutter: Independent reviews for thousands of products
The Athletic: In-depth, personalized sports journalism.

If you already have your Hope access to the NYT enabled, you will see the new content available on or around July 1. If you haven't already set up your access, please follow the directions below.

Hope College students, faculty and staff can read the online version of The New York Times with no limits on current articles, courtesy of Van Wylen Library.

To gain access, you will need to create an individual login at nytimes.com/passes and use your 1Hope credentials (yourname@hope.edu) to register.

You must have a valid email address from Hope College. Faculty/staff accounts will be valid for four years, and require additional registration for subsequent use. Students will be asked to provide an estimated graduation year when they register. Students will NOT need to re-register for access.

The Academic Pass does not include e-reader editions, Premium Crosswords or The New York Times Crosswords apps. At this time, access to articles from the date range 1923 to 1980 is limited to 5 articles during any 24-hour period.
