Streaming Performance Resources
For video performances, documentaries and educational videos the library has several resources available. Most of these are findable through Primo by limiting your Resource Type to Video and the Show Only to "Available Online." (Note: leave off the online limiter to see what we have on DVD/VHS!) It may be helpful to browse within individual video databases for content. Here are the ones strongest in music:
Films on Demand
This collection contains almost 1,000 music-related history, performance, and documentary videos. Try browsing by Subject under Music and Dance for titles. Contains works like the Ken Burns Jazz Series and a number of BBC televised performances and is particularly strong in educational videos.
Digital Theatre Plus
Though mainly a play database, DT+ contains quality classical music, opera, and musical theatre productions. To view these more narrowly, narrow the Performance Form down to your area of interest. NOTE: DT+ is not indexed in Primo so will need to be searched separately.
Sharing Streaming Media for class
Streaming video can be linked and in some cases embedded like YouTube and other formats. Look within the video's record for links and embedding options rather than the browser URL, which may be a temporary link and not connected though Van Wylen Library's proxy server for off campus access.
NOTE: Digital Theatre Plus links (ok to use the browser URL) are not automatically set for off-campus access. Use the library's URL converter to make them viewable off-campus.
