Podcasting: Home

This guide provides information about getting started with podcasting in programs like Audacity and GarageBand.

Introduction

Welcome to this tutorial page for learning about podcasting through two different programs: Audacity and GarageBand.

Check out the Best Practices or the collaborating virtually tab for information about creating podcasts and working together!

To get started with technology, choose which program you are using from the tabs above. Small descriptions of each app are available below:

Audacity is a sound-editing software that is free to use and available to download onto any computer. It has a high level of detail and sensitivity when editing and fine-tuning recorded tracks. Audacity is all about editing what you bring to the application, and does not have any prerecorded tracks available to include in projects.

GarageBand is available only on Apple products such as Mac computers. It comes with a preloaded library of background music to add to projects. Effects that are added to tracks must be added to the whole track, so there is less flexibility in terms of audio control for this app.
