Professional Development

   Build Your Resumé

Being a Circulation Assistant is a great way to develop marketable skills that will benefit you long after you graduate from Hope. This isn't "just a college job" – it's a job you can list on your resumé, and you can build valuable relationships with full-time library staff who can serve as professional references when you're applying for post-college jobs and programs.

Skills you'll develop as a Circulation Assistant include:

  • Anticipatory customer service skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working independently in a self-directed manner
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Following procedures and enforcing policies
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Multitasking and managing competing priorities
  • Calmly managing confrontational situations

Feel free to use this list of skills when building your resume, and if you'd like a professional reference for a job or college application, contact Allison Van Liere at vanliere@hope.edu.
